Finger Comber Havana Hair Product Review

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by a representative at Finger Comber about reviewing their synthetic Havana Hair product line.  Apparently, they viewed my video on YouTube that I did showing how I do the Marley/Havana twists on my daughter's head and they wanted me to try their product out to see how it compares to the Marley Braiding Hair.  I was actually thinking about doing the twists again, so they definitely contacted me at the right time.

They asked me to go to their website, www.fingercomber.com to view the hair and select the color of hair that I wanted.

I reviewed their website and checked out a few reviews online before responding with a hair color.

According to the Finger Combers Website:
Havana Hair is a soft, yet highly textured man made hair fiber that is created to blend well with a broad range of natural hair textures. It is created to be long lasting and re-usable. It should be washed and treated in the same manner of natural hair, and it benefits from the application of natural oils, co-washing and water-spritzing. It can be used to create a variety of natural hair styles, but it is most popularly used to create "Havana Twists". To create Havana Twists, you will need between 5 and 7 packs, depending on the thickness of your hair, and the desired density and fullness of the look you are aiming to achieve.

They have the following hair colors to choose from:
(There may be more colors that aren't in stock)

Chestnut Black
Darkest Espresso
Dark Hazelnut
Havana Hair in Amber
Havana Hair in Spiced Clementine
Chestnut
Mimosa
Sangria

I chose Dark Hazelnut, because my daughter has color 4 hair.  They sent me a total of 4 packs of hair within a couple of days.  Their customer service was very nice and friendly and they also shipped the product very quickly.

When the hair arrived it was in bundles. Each bundle was in its own plastic bag as seen below. When I took the hair out it was very full and thick It was also soft, it felt more like naturally textured hair. When I compare the texture of the hair to Marley braiding hair, I must say that I like the feel of Finger Combers hair a lot better.  I also noticed the sheen of the hair.  Marley hair can be a bit shiny and un-natural looking, this hair on the other hand is the complete opposite.  It was very natural looking and blended very well when I did the twists.

I installed the hair using the same method that I used in my Havana Twists video that I did on YouTube that is posted below.  My daughter’s hair was freshly washed and conditioned.  I applied a leave in, a little coconut oil, and allowed the hair to hair dry a bit before twisting.  I used Beautiful Textures Moisturizer and a bit of EcoStyler gel when I started the twisting process.

Right away, I noticed the hair was not as long as the Marley Braiding Hair, which in this case was a good thing.  When I used the Marley Braiding Hair on my daughter the first few times, the hair was extremely long.  It was past her tail bone, so I cut a lot of it.  With this hair it reached mid back and was at a comfortable length, so I did not have to cut any of it.

This was my 4th time doing the Havana Twists, so the process went by rather quickly.  It only took me about 2 hours to do her head.  I also only used 1.5 bags of hair, so I have plenty of hair to experiment with and possibly do mine with.

When I was finished, I actually put her hair up into a top bun and that is how she wore it for the majority of the time.

At night, we would moisturize her hair with water and a bit of Beautiful Textures Moisturizer and jojoba oil.  If her scalp appeared dry or itchy, I would apply a little bit of tea tree oil directly onto her scalp.  She slept in a bonnet or satin scarf.  She also has a satin pillow case that she sleeps on.

We kept the twists in for about 3 week.  I only had to redo a few in the front around the second week.  Other than that the hair held up pretty good.  I did not co-wash or wash her hair while she had the twists in. However, I did use Organic Root Stimulator No Rinse Shampoo the 2nd week to help cleanse the scalp. That product worked great.

Here are my Pros and Cons of the Havana Hair

Pros:
Nice length to the hair
Texture - Soft/Natural Feeling
Natural sheen to the hair
Blended well

Cons:
The Hair would unravel out of the twists.  (I twisted the hair down to the end and dipped her ends in water with rods at the end, however many of the twists still unraveled)
Costs per pack (I thought $12.99 was a bit expensive)

I would grade this product at an B

If you want more information on this hair and or would like to purchase this hair, click the website link below. The hair is currently 12.99 per pack.

Disclaimer: I was not paid to do this review.  I did receive the hair as a gift; however the review that I stated above is my honest opinion about the hair.

Until Next Time,
Take Care and God Bless!!!
