Let's Talk About Hair - Naturals Meet-up

A few weekends ago I attended my first meet-up with the "Let's Talk About Hair" Naturals Group.  "Let's Talk About Hair" is a Natural Hair Forum and Support Club for Naturals here in the state of Oklahoma.  They have monthly meetings at various venues to discuss natural hair, share tips, and to encourage one another while they are on their natural hair journey.

Founders of "Let's Talk About Hair": Megan Smith, KiAuntra Denton-Nichols, and Camisha Collins-Williams
That particular Saturday the meetup was being help at the Ralph Ellison Library in Oklahoma City and Desiree' Irving, a natural hair stylist at the Hair Cafe in OKC, was the key note speaker. Desiree' and I go way back, so I had to attend and show some support.

The "Let's Talk About Hair" group served refreshments and held raffles for a few giveaways.

It was so good to see so many Naturals in one setting here in Oklahoma.  We were all sharing tips and information about different products and techniques we have tried and mastered.  It was good to be able to mingle with others that had the same interest "Natural Hair".

Desiree' was able to give information from the perspective of a hairstyles and as a natural on a few topics such as deciding to go natural and how to care for your hair, and she even did a mini hair show with Centerria Wright, a professional make-up artist and owner of Visioned Kleur Make-up Artistry LLC. providing the make-up; and with Eureka Calhoun a stylist and blogger at www.qvelvet.com, providing the styles.

Centerria gave each model a natural makeup look and stressed the fact that foundation would not be necessary during the spring/summer time.  You can use a little concealer and maybe a brush of powder to get a nice fresh look. She also was so against using a black pencil to do your eyebrows. Using a dark brown even if your hair is black would look more natural for the brows.

Eureka is all about being a savvy shopper and thrifing. It's all about mixing patterns and prints and not being afraid of color.  Also you can have your statement piece and dress around that.

The fashionable Eureka E. Calhoun pulled a lucky lady from the audience and did a quick makeover of her.  I didn't get a before pic of her, but the after pic is below.

Below are more shots I took at the meet-up.  There are so many lovely naturalistas here in Oklahoma City.
